Purple Hybrid Mattress delivers the same Purple feel with a stronger and more supportive construction.
The Purple Hybrid mattress is made by the same company that created Hyper-Elastic Polymer, the original Purple bed and the Purple Hybrid Premier 3 and 4. In fact, Purple offers three different hybrid beds, appropriately named the Purple Hybrid , and the Purple Hybrid Premier 3 and 4 . Below, I will explore the various reasons you may choose one over the others and whether the cost is worth it. Continue reading to learn if a Purple Hybrid is right for your needs.
Purple Hybrid (also known as the Purple 2) is the thinnest option of hybrids and measures only 11 inches thick. It is also firmer and more suitable for stomach, back, or stomach sleepers than the two other models. It is also the most affordable Purple Hybrid model.
The Purple Hybrid Premier, also known as Purple 3 is 12 in thick and features a thicker Hyperelastic Polymer comfort coating. It feels a little softer and is a medium-firm weight.
Purple Hybrid Premier 4 Purple Hybrid bed is the most costly, but it is thicker than all Purple hybrid beds and provides extra support. It has a medium-firm profile and would be suitable for all body types, just like the Purple Hybrid Premier 3.

First impressions
Purple Hybrids include purple details throughout the bed. This is a wonderful addition for anyone who loves the color. It’s more luxurious than the Purple Hybrid mattress, thanks to the premium cover. People want to know what the Purple feels like.
It is completely different from Grandma’s innerspring mattress, I’ll be honest. This bed is an entirely new concept that I believe worked well for the company.
Purple Hybrid mattress firmness, feel and feel
Purple Hybrid beds are soft, airy and don’t feel like foam no matter what model they come in. When you run your hand down the center of the mattress, you can feel the squishy squares bend and morph underneath.
It’s not super noticeable when you’re laying down, it just feels buoyant like you’re floating on your back or laying on a hammock. Though, it’s also really supportive because of the thick layer of pocketed coils, which I’ll explain more below.
The Purple Hybrid 2 simultaneously feels supportive and pressure-relieving, but it also has a slightly firmer profile. It’s 7/10 on the firmness scale. While the soft squares aren’t pushed into your hips or shoulders if you lie sideways, they don’t feel like a typical firm mattress. However, my back and spine feel reinforced by the Hyper Elastic Polymer layer. It’s firmer than the Original Purple mattress.
The Purple Hybrid is a great option if you don’t want to experiment with other bedding styles. The Purple Hybrid might be for you if it offers a mattress feel that is both supportive and light on the hips, shoulders and back.
Purple Hybrid Premier
The brand’s two upper-level hybrid beds have the same signature Purple feel, but they have a slightly softer profile because of their thicker layers of Hyper-Elastic Polymer.
Both of them fall in the middle to mid-firm range, or roughly a 6 on our firmness scale.
Purple Hybrid mattress construction
Purple Hybrids come in three versions, each with a different layer of Purple Grid gel.
The Purple Hybrid is four layers thick and around 11 inches tall. Below is a breakdown of each layer of the Purple Hybrid bed. This will give you an idea about what makes Purple and Purple.
A thin slab of basic Foam about an inch in thickness, which supports the thick pocketed coil above.
The mattress has a thick system made of 7.5-inch pockets coils. Each coil is individually wrapped in fabric to reduce motion transfer. It is what makes this mattress so comfortable.
A thin half inch of foam to help neutralize any sensations caused by the pockets in the bed’s base.
Around 2 inches of the brand’s special Hyper-Elastic Polymer, laid out in a grid formation. This layer is what distinguishes the Purple Hybrid mattress from the others. Each mattress’s thickness varies. It is soft, bouncy, and provides the most comfort of the Purple.
The dense foam slabs that surround the edges make the sides more sturdy and supportive.
Purple’s StretchMax Cover is on the top. It’s very stretchy, just as its name suggests. It feels more breathable than traditional mattress covers. I compare it to an athletic antisweat top rather than a soft cotton one.

Purple Hybrid Premier mattress layers
The Purple Hybrid Premier mattress is the highest-rated option from the brand. Really, the only major differences in construction are the top layers.
Purple 3 has a layer of Hyper elastic Polymer at its top that measures 3 inches, while Purple 4 has 4 inches.
While it doesn’t make a significant difference in feel, they are more soft than the Purple Hybrid.
Motion isolation
Motion isolation isn’t usually an innerspring bed’s forte, but with the pocketed coils and special material you find in the Purple Hybrid, it’s a different story.
It seems to be quite capable of isolating motion, even though it is very bouncy.
It almost makes no sound, so you’ll barely be able notice your partner’s movements on the other.
Edge support
Purple Hybrid mattresses include firm foam on the edges. If you are prone to slipping during the night, the Purple Hybrid will keep you more secure.
Therefore, I give this mattress my enthusiastic thumbs-up for its edge support capabilities.
Temperature
The other benefit of the Purple Grid besides bouncy comfort would have to be its temperature-regulating abilities. The Purple Grid is not made with any cooling material. Instead, its natural, breathable design makes it one the best mattresses for allowing airflow.
It doesn’t retain heat like memory foam or poly foam might, making it appealing to hot sleepers like me who need the additional cooling relief. Purple is not cold but it does not feel hot.
Purple Hybrid’s best sleeping positions and body types
You wouldn’t expect to find the right size shirt at your favorite clothing shop, so don’t assume that every mattress will be accommodating.
Especially since there are so many different options to pick from. Your preference for a particular position and your body type are key factors in choosing the best mattress.
Position
There are three main sleeping positions: side, stomach or back. The Purple Hybrid is best for stomach and back sleepers.
If you’re a side-sleeper and really want the Purple Hybrid I’d recommend one of the Purple Premier beds. They are a bit softer and more pressure-relieving than the standard hybrid model, which will be more of a benefit to your sides and shoulders.
Body type
No matter your body type, no matter if you are 105 lbs or 250 lbs, the Purple Hybrid Beds will suit you perfectly.
Purple Hybrid mattresses work well for everyone because they offer more support than traditional foam beds such as Casper or Nectar. They have that layer of steel pocketed coils on the bottom, and if you think about it, steel is much more durable than foam. The difference in how this mattress will hold up over time compared to an all-foam bed will be especially noticeable over the course of 10 years.
Price
The Purple Hybrid is more costly than the original Purple and may not be the best choice for those looking to spend as low as possible on a bed. The Purple Hybrid is a good choice if your goal is to invest in your evening’s sleep.
Purple Hybrid mattresses are available in sizes ranging from twin XL to California King. Prices start at $1299 and go up until $1,899. The bed is not usually discounted, but there may be a promotion for free sheets or pillows.
Purple Hybrid mattresses are made with metal coils and foam that provide support and softness.
